Statement on the Black Lives Matter Movement

The Canterbury District Labour Group of Councillors stand in support with Black Lives Matter, we recognise the inequities that exist in the UK society and particularly at this time we stand in solidarity with the USA Black Lives Matter Movement.

Canterbury District has over the generations welcomed people of all nationalities and we are horrified by the Police brutality as evidenced in the death of George Floyd and other black people in police custody. We abhor the actions of the USA President Mr Trump and urge UK Prime Minister Johnson to publicly condemn Mr Trump’s actions.
