Councillor Alan Baldock has returned as Leader of Canterbury Labour Group following the resignation of Cllr Dave Wilson who has decided not to fight the next election.
Councillor Baldock (left in the photo) previously served as Leader of the Labour Group up until 2021 and so is an experienced voice. Reflecting on his predecessor, Alan said, “Dave has been a great Leader of the group and incredibly effective at highlighting the incompetence of the current Tory administration. He’s positioned us well going into the next set of local elections and remains a key part of our team”.
“Labour have and will always be a party committed to offering hope for a better future – we believe that this council needs to work alongside its residents and not against them. We believe that a new Labour led council can deliver a better, fairer, greener and stronger district and look forward to taking that message to the people in the next couple of months as the election draws clearer”.
Cllr Wilson will continue to serve as the member for Barton until the May 6th election – other positions within the group remain unaffected.
