Dan Allen has lived in Whitstable for 15 years and in the district since he was 16. He has been involved in various national and local campaigns including anti-fascist and anti-racist activities and involved in local campaigns to save the job centre and post office. He has been heavily involved with the local Labour Club for the last ten years holding the secretary, vice chair and chair positions. During this time the club has held fundraisers for local food banks, support charities helping asylum seekers and is now operating as a community hub for people struggling to heat their homes.
Dan has huge concerns about local housing, specifically the large number of second homes and Airbnbs. He is also concerned about the lack of infrastructure building to match the much-needed house building.
On a personal level, Dan has worked as a train conductor for 17 years. He is an RMT member and has been involved in recent strike activities. He has 3 grown up children and is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.
