Paul O’Neill is retired and lives in Canterbury, which he loves. He is a proud dad and granddad.
Paul enjoys being a musician, cycling and watching good drama and football on TV. He used to enjoy being a West Ham supporter, but not so much this season.
Paul has worked in public service for most of his life, beginning in the Audit Commission, holding local authorities to account on propriety, decision making and how well services were being run. He also worked for a London Borough in the team that managed all the work of Council Committees and their Management Board. One of the most rewarding periods of his career was being part of an inner city task force delivering housing and regeneration projects in Liverpool.
In latter years Paul was Chair of Bexley Citizens Advice, having previously been trained there as a volunteer advisor.
Paul believes so much more is achieved when you listen, build good relationships with people but are not afraid to challenge the status quo when necessary.
